Some sessions belong outdoors. The warmth of natural light, the texture of a real place, and a setting that becomes part of the memory — that's what an on-location session gives you that a studio can't.

We shoot across our favorite Folsom-area settings, each chosen because it photographs beautifully across the seasons. Bring the whole family for a relaxed hour in golden light, or take your maternity session outdoors for flowing dresses and open fields. You choose the setting; we bring the eye for light and the patience for kids who need a minute to warm up.

Each location has its own character: the eclectic urban-historic feel of the Old Folsom Powerhouse, the natural greenery of Brown's Ravine at Folsom Lake, the dramatic boulders of Boulder Ridge Park in Rocklin, the dappled oaks and open fields of Blue Oaks Park in Roseville, the year-round charm of Town Center in El Dorado Hills, and the spring blooms of the McKinley Rose Garden in Sacramento. Outdoor sessions run a little longer than studio sessions because the photographer travels to you and we chase the best light. We photograph late afternoon toward golden hour whenever we can — it's the most flattering light of the day. And while the shoot happens outdoors, your viewing is still at our Folsom studio about a week later, where you'll choose your favorites in person.

After your shoot

How do I get my photos?

Your session fee includes the shoot and a set of edited digital images. To see the rest of your gallery and choose your favorites, there are two ways to go.

Come in for a viewing

All sessions require a classic viewing session, booked 4–10 days after your shoot, to proof your photos and make your selections.

Online galleries are not available — selections are made in person at your viewing session. Your viewing is at our Folsom studio — even if your session was on location.

Cancellation policy

All fees are non-refundable, but transferable if rescheduled 48 hours prior to your session. Sessions rescheduled within 48 hours are subject to a $25 service fee. Please call 916-280-5013 to reschedule your session.

Which setting is best for our session?

It depends on the look you're after: the Old Folsom Powerhouse for an eclectic urban-historic feel, Brown's Ravine at Folsom Lake for natural greenery, Boulder Ridge Park in Rocklin for dramatic boulders, Town Center in El Dorado Hills for year-round charm, and the McKinley Rose Garden in Sacramento for spring blooms. Tell us your vision and we'll help you choose.

What time of day do you shoot?

We book toward late afternoon, into golden hour, whenever possible — the last 90 minutes before sunset is the most flattering light of the day at every setting.

What happens if it rains?

Rescheduling is free if you let us know more than 48 hours before your session; within 48 hours a $25 service fee applies. Outdoor sessions don't move into the studio mid-shoot, so we'll find you a new date with good light.

How large a group can you photograph outdoors?

Immediate family is included; for larger groups (8 or more) just contact us so we can plan the time and any group fee. We're happy to accommodate multi-generation sessions.

Can we do a maternity session outdoors?

Yes — our On Location Maternity session is built for exactly that. Flowing dresses move beautifully outdoors, and the open settings give your bump session room to breathe. Want to use one of our maternity gowns outdoors? Just ask in advance so we can set it aside for you.

Where do we view and choose our photos?

Your viewing is at our Folsom studio about a week after the shoot, even for on-location sessions — you'll proof your images and choose your favorites in person there.
