Ours are designed to be fun, colorful, and stress-free. Every session includes a fully styled custom backdrop matched to your theme or party colors, plus outfit changes for variety. You bring the cake; we handle the styling, the setup, and the cleanup — so you get to just watch your one-year-old discover frosting for the first time.

Send us your party colors or a Pinterest board and we'll create a custom backdrop to match — then style it with props, a cake-smash setup, and outfit changes so the gallery has real variety. Most sessions start with a few clean, pre-smash portraits (fresh outfit, no frosting) before we let your one-year-old loose on the cake.

After your shoot

How do I get my photos?

Your session fee includes the shoot and a set of edited digital images. To see the rest of your gallery and choose your favorites, there are two ways to go.

Come in for a viewing

All sessions require a classic viewing session, booked 4–10 days after your shoot, to proof your photos and make your selections.

Online galleries are not available — selections are made in person at your viewing session. Your viewing is at our Folsom studio — even if your session was on location.

Cancellation policy

All fees are non-refundable, but transferable if rescheduled 48 hours prior to your session. Sessions rescheduled within 48 hours are subject to a $25 service fee. Please call 916-280-5013 to reschedule your session.

First Birthday Cake Smash Photoshoot FAQ

Do you provide the cake?

No — bring your own. We recommend a small smash cake (about 4–6 inches); bigger cakes make more mess than a one-year-old can handle. We provide the styled backdrop, props, setup, and cleanup.

How far ahead should we book?

Most parents book 2–4 weeks before the birthday week. Custom-backdrop styling takes lead time, so the earlier you send your theme or party colors, the better we can match it.

What's the difference between Cake Smash and Deluxe?

The standard Cake Smash ($99) includes one custom backdrop and two outfit changes. Deluxe ($139) adds a second backdrop and an extra outfit — best if you want more variety across the gallery.

Will there be photos before the cake smash?

Usually, yes — most sessions begin with a few clean, frosting-free portraits in a fresh outfit before we let your little one dig into the cake.

Can we do a themed backdrop?

Absolutely — that's the heart of a cake smash. Send your party theme, colors, or a Pinterest link and we'll style a custom backdrop to match.

We have twins — can they smash together?

Yes! Let us know while booking so we can add an extra 30 minutes for two little ones (an additional fee applies).
